A collaboration with HSL & Regas BMW
The Convertible House at La Promenade is IDC Architects’ exploration into how the typical terrace home can evolve for modern tropical living. In this feature video, Ar. Tina Lau, Director of IDC Architects, walks through the design ideas behind the show unit — created in collaboration with Hock Seng Lee (HSL) and supported by Regas BMW.
Designed as a flexible, light-filled home, the Convertible House breaks away from the conventional “closed-up” terrace layout. Instead, IDC prioritises natural ventilation, adaptable rooms, and a seamless indoor–outdoor flow. The result is a space that feels open, breathable, and connected — aligning with how families in Sarawak live today.
Working closely with HSL, the team explored how a terrace home can function more like a modern tropical pavilion, where greenery, daylight, and movement become part of daily life. Rooms are intentionally designed to be multipurpose, giving homeowners the freedom to shape the home around their lifestyle.
The collaboration with Regas BMW adds a lifestyle dimension to the narrative, framing the project within La Promenade’s identity as a well-planned, aspirational township.
The Convertible House ultimately reflects IDC’s belief that homes should adapt, evolve, and foster meaningful connections — to people, to nature, and to the way we live now.
