The Granary Project is a conversion of an existing warehouse, re-fitted and re-furbished for a new restaurant and bar. The old warehouse which was full of character and history was relatively unknown as it was hidden behind the Wayang Street shophouses.

In the renovation process, the existing structures were preserved as much as possible. The existing brick walls and timber structure were exposed to create textures that told the story of the building’s past use. New elements as well as recycled building components salvaged from other buildings were inserted into the existing structures of the building where necessary. Using recycled timber, steel and glass extensively for the interiors of the building, this project is an example of how a once dilapidated building can be re-used and adapted to fit its new context and surroundings.

The new venue accommodates a bar, lounge area for live performances, and a dining area as well as a purpose-built kitchen. The mezzanine floor will be used as a multi-purpose event space. The space is naturally ventilated, with the installation of a HVLS fan to move air through the building.
