Our fourth collaboration with the Shine Pharmacy group, our clients approached us with a brief that was steeped in nostalgia. The site is located in a central part of the city within a 1980s commercial building surrounded by hotels, a shopping, office tower and within metres away from the iconic Kuching Waterfront. The owners wanted a design that not only fit within their brand identity, but to also tell a story about their local Sarawak origins and how that ties into their niche, personal service.

Occupying all four levels, we were engaged to design the ground and first floors to include retail spaces, a counter for cashiers and medicine dispensary as well as a ‘drive-through’ concept fitting for today’s rise in deliveries and pick-up concepts. The arched vertical metal screens adorning the facade windows are inspired by the building’s existing shell and act as sun-shades as well.

The project was completed in 2021.
