Situated in a predominantly Malay-ethnic neighbourhood, the spatial sequence of our second outlet designed for Secret Recipe is inspired by Malay traditional houses – depicting the gathering scenes that take place on every corner of the house.
From the informal ‘Verandah’, to the inviting and spacious ‘Living Lounge’ to the intimate ‘Dining & Kitchen’ spaces, traditional elements such as metal louvers on the shop front and dividers, artisanal woven chairs and locally hand crafted up cycled fan wall light covers deliver hints of the setting of the neighbourhood.
Though the space is divided into different zones, each of the space is governed by plywood lined walls with splashes of blood orange that exude an inviting and warm atmosphere, as well as unifying the space into one coherent entity. Large windows fill the predominantly off-white space with natural light to create a quiet yet subdued spatial quality.
The materials selected are elemental in nature and familiar to everyday lives; aimed at creating an everyday eatery outlet that is aligned with the identity of the brand.
